This recently restored 1900 mansion is well worth a visit especially if you enjoy historic homes. Fabulous ceilings and amazing wood work. A great place to view and enjoy a lazy lunch.

It's good that the historic Bundoora Homestead has its own café as it's some distance from the local shopping centre's food outlets. Before or after you look at the current art exhibitions you can sit down in the café, which occupies a large downstairs room (once a billiard room). Our group had savoury muffins and carrot cake. Other choices included Devonshire tea and a range of biscuits. For children there are some menu selections and a low table with colouring books and other diversions. Tables vary in size to suit different groupings, and in a room off to the side there are some armchairs. This café used to offer lunches but no longer does. The cafe's hours are 11-3 on weekdays; check the Bundoora Homestead website for current weekend hours. Be aware the café closes about an hour before the Homestead shuts for the day, so don't leave your coffee and tea break too late in your visit.

The staff was very friendly, the café was clean and situated in a beautiful building. The menu was limited, but the food was delicious. Water was readily available. They were open until 4pm and accepted credit cards.
