Hoppin John Soul Food - Baltimore

As much as I wanted to like this place I just couldn't. During the time I went here they had a five dollar menu. I ordered fish. The fish was so small it looked like sardines. I also order a side of black eyed peace and rice. The rice was plenty, but the black eye peas was a small layer not even covering the rice. Certainly not enough juice or black eyed peas to mix together as we southerners often do.The food was bland in taste, southerns use lots of spices and hot sauce. I doubt if it even had salt or paper on any of it. nor was I offered, hot sauce, vinegar salt pepper packs, but was pointed to a tray in a corner with I don't know what, cause I never use stuff exposed for public use. This food wasn't even as good as Kimmy's and their Chinese ! So shame on the owner for thinking he knows what southern food is.

Their 3pc whiting was so good!!!! Fries were nice and hot!!

Good food, fast service.Their $6 meal is awesome, I have traveled cross town to this place and it's worth it.

Called to order food noon on a Tuesday and no one answered, walked there and they are closed, yet it says they open at 11, they need to update hours of operation, black folks yall need to do better with your business professionals if you ever wanna make it out the hood

I shouldn’t have been gave one star! The place looked abandoned. I called to place and order and he waits until i get there to tell me he only takes cash but there was a register right there. Then proceeds to say i can cash app him. When i broke the chicken apart it was pink on the inside, the Mac and cheese had blocks of cheese in it looked like it came from a box and the cabbage was hard as rocks nothing was seasoned. I’ll never be going here again! So mad i threw it away before getting pictures
