Clavel - Baltimore

The atmosphere is welcoming and quiet, and the staff is excellent. The menu is impressive, and I recommend grabbing a drink at the side bar—anything mezcal is a winner, and I absolutely loved my cocktails! The menu is à la carte, and the tacos come individually, so make sure to specify which ones and how many you’d like. They were delicious! The queso was fantastic, and the guacamole was out of this world. We didn't try dessert, but I really wanted to after seeing it on the menu. Three tacos, along with chips, salsa, and queso, filled me up nicely. Overall, it's a great restaurant! I highly recommend it, but be sure to arrive before they open if you're going with a large group. Oh, and the prices were definitely a pleasant surprise!

I hate leaving reviews. I have worked in the restaurant/hospitality industry for over ten years in multiple large cities, and I think the option for random people to leave reviews gives an air of arrogance and a false sense of bourgeois to a people who just need to enjoy their time out. With that being said, Clavel might be the best Mexican food experience I have had outside of Mexico. The cocktail program is extremely thoughtful and well executed, the Mezcal selection is purposefully curated and they might have the best quesadillas I have ever had. On top of all of this? You can do this for $30 per visit…including gratuity. An east coast gem and I will continue to travel to enjoy this place.

This place is absolutely incredible! I visited for the first time with a good friend on Taco Tuesday, and the selection was extensive. Everything was delicious! The only downside was the wait to be seated, but the fantastic food and excellent customer service more than made up for it.
