Bidrage med feedbackWe ate here twice on a recent stay and on both nights had good meals. Not a large place so you are reasonably close to fellow diners and on our first night we had a lady whose voice took over the room, however not the restaurant's fault, just someone with no consideration for others. On both nights I had the chowder as a starter and it was excellent on both occasions despite some other reviews contradicting this opinion. Staff were really good and friendly and you didn't feel rushed. Hake was also very good.
If you are planning having a special dinner, go else where, I had booked the resturant in advance for my Mothers birthday, was told no problem. But on arrival was informed by the most arrogant manager that we were not booked into the restraunt but instead in the second restraunt which was still in the bar area. to say that this was a disappointment was putting it very mildly. Our party was divided between two tables (back to back) right beside the smoking area, so at least we had a view ! At no time did the manager apologise or even ask if our food was ok. The only good thing was the food. This manager needs to re think his customer service. I had been looking forward to this evening but to be greated and treated like second rate citziens is not something that I will forget.
It’s a few years since our last visit our return was not of my choosing but considered worth a try for a family meal on Sunday afternoon. The bread that was served at the beginning and the kids ice cream at the end were great. The rest was poor quality, small in quantity and overpriced. Service was slow and less than helpful. No return for us.
I was disappointed that we couldn't dine or tour Ashford Castle during our stay at the Lodge. However, we did enjoy drinks and dinner at the Quay at the Lodge. They have a nice selection of food and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere, with very good service.
I dined at Quay Bar and Brasserie for the first time last week, and I can't believe I hadn't tried it sooner. The view of Lough Corrib is absolutely beautiful, and the excellent service and diverse menu make it a top dining spot in the West. As a vegan for twenty years, I was delighted to find a separate vegan menu available. I highly recommend Quay Bar and Brasserie to anyone looking for a special dining experience.
