Western Hotel Bistro - Ballarat

We went on a Friday evening without a reservation, it was busy but were offered a choice of tables. There is a good range of wines and beers, you can order a large glass of wine if you wish which was good value. We ordered the lamb souvlaki and the Guinness pie, both were delicious and generous size. For dessert we had the lemon cheesecake, again delicious and just the right size. The table table service was excellent. Overall a very enjoyable meal and good value.

When I entered the doors of this establishment, with my boys in tow, I knew I was in for a good night when my eyes were cast upon the DJ to my right and the multitude of televisions all playing sport on them. I said to the boys, 'we're on here lads', and so we were. One gentleman, who will remain unnamed, enjoyed a successful 'punt' on the 'doggies' and thus shouted one of the other gentleman a cold beverage, much to the delight of the young man behind the bar - good show! The drinks were cold, the culture was warm, fun was had and the 'doggies' ran quickly - what a night! Staff and customer culture is unparalleled anywhere in the infamous 'Rat. I entered feeling rather famished and somewhat thirsty, but left with a warm feeling in my stomach that wasn't only to do with the good food, but the good, warm and hearty culture. What a night, what an establishment, and of course, what culture!

Been here three times in one month. Lovely food. I'm not a salad person but the dressing is nice... with chips! Friendly service too.

We had a booking for 8 in the bistro and had a few extra turn up the staff immediately made room for everyone and gave the kids a colouring book which was a big thumbs up. Meals came out fast and everyone was happy. We had a great night kids all happy and even got to listen to some live music out in there new beer garden which was awesome. Thanks Western hotel we will be back

The Food is amazing. Have tried a range of items from the menu and love them all. Especially the dumplings, spring rolls and duck risotto. Huge servings and the service is impeccable. I will come back again and again.
