Bidrage med feedbackOn contrary to the negative reviews, the food here is legitimately authentic. Not Americanized like most are familiar with. If you are expecting the food you get from other Hispanic restaurants, this is the wrong place for you and your expectations are misaligned to real food. My team and I went here strictly because of the negative reviews. We had to investigate the claims. Tapatio with chunky tomato claim was the best. We travel 1/2 the year and eat at many places ranging from mass chains to micro ma and pa locations. The food is amazing. Nothing I can compare it to other than a Hispanic family reunion eat out. I wanted to return for photos to provide but sadly they were closed. It wouldn’t do the flavoring of the food justice anyways. We spoke with the “Ma” (Owner) of the place and got some insight on the background of the place and about her husband. Very interesting story and the final piece was the authentic environment to the culture in which the place depicts. The sauces are true to their claim. Fresh and made daily. You can not get the flavor profile the sauces provide without it being fresh. Be careful of the deep red hottest sauce. If you can’t handle hot stuff, it’s not for you. Trust me on this. It was delicious and wish this place was closer to my home as I would be a regular. Thank you for the amazing experience and providing my team and I with a memory we will speak on for years. Especially when venturing to other Hispanic restaurants .

Once again another perfect meal at North Meets South! The food is so amazing here. I’ve never had a bad meal here! Delicious!!
I will never go back to this place. If this place is great to locals then you need to experience more Mexican restaurants. Besides not getting what we wanted, like as simple as guacamole, soup and then being asked to not have lettuce, if we weren’t going to eat. The cook came and asked because it was so expensive for them to waste. That being said.. they still charged full price for all of our very tasteless food. Chicken quesadillas, chimichangas that were mostly beans and deep fried to the max! Salsa was not homemade. It tasted like watered down ketchup. The queso was not good. I do not know a Mexican restaurant that charges for chips and salsa. DO EAT HERE. Don’t blame the young, nice waitress who is serving this awful food. She’s just doing her job!
My family meets in Baldwin for lunch or dinner often, The Phoenix was closed so we thought we would try this Mexican restaurant. Sadly, the food was terrible, all of it. I had Carne Asada, the steak was all fat and had no seasoning, I could barely cut it. My dog enjoyed it as I wrapped it up to take home. Others in my party of 5 had quesadillas and chimichangas, also so bad no one finished their food. Prior to getting our food the cook came out and asked if we were going to eat the lettuce if she served it, then explained that at $5 dollars a head she didn’t want to waste it. The “salsa” tasted like watered down ketchup and the queso (if you can call it that) had no trace of cheese and no taste. Please don’t get me started on the restroom, which was cute, like my grandmas, with a bath towel to dry your hands. The waitress was great and we would have tipped her generously had our food been worth the $70 dollar bill. I don’t leave reviews often but felt obligated to so no one makes the mistake we did choosing DJ’s over A&W. The Corona was great, I’m actually surprised they had a lime for me!
