The Village Inn Balboa Island

The food was excellent and the service was great, but the atmosphere was lacking and the restrooms were not clean.

I was initially optimistic when our calamari arrived quickly, but it turned out to be quite disappointing—it was chewy like gum and impossible to bite into. We waited 30 minutes for a children's cheeseburger and a steak salad. Unfortunately, the cheeseburger was burnt to the point that my daughter refused to eat it. The steak salad was somewhat generously presented, but it was cold to the touch and lacked flavor.

We dined in the garden, but the flies were quite bothersome. The food was mediocre, and the service was similar. Our server was very friendly, though a bit slow.

Service was slow. We were on the outdoor patio without lights. The wedge salad wasn’t as good as usual. The pulled pork sandwich was gods.
