Bidrage med feedbackI can honestly say this was one of the best Japanese meals I've had in a long time. I initially thought it might be a bit too upscale and pretentious, but it truly lived up to the hype. Everything was delicious. I started with the crispy rice tuna, which set the stage for an incredible meal—I can't wait to return. While it was a bit pricey, it was definitely worth it. Our server, Eduardo (but he also goes by Eddie), was outstanding—very attentive and knowledgeable, which enhanced our overall dining experience. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. The tables were well spaced apart, and even though it was busy, I felt safe. I highly recommend this place!
The only drawbacks, aside from the prices (which are expected at Bar Harbour Shops), were the noise levels—there was no soundproofing where we were seated. This made it difficult to hear the person next to me, and at times, the waiter had trouble hearing us as well, which led to a part of our order being missed. I didn’t deduct points for this since it wasn’t the waiter’s fault, and when we requested it again, the food was brought out promptly. Overall, the service was excellent. The restaurant’s interior is very yellow (as shown in the attached photos), so if that’s not your preference and you want a quieter atmosphere, I suggest trying to get a seat outside.
This restaurant is fantastic and located in a great spot. The food is truly delicious—you won't regret visiting! While it's not cheap, it's definitely worth the price. However, our server could have been better suited for this kind of establishment. Overall, I would recommend it 200%!
After spending some time in Bal Harbour in late June, I’ve found Makoto to be a staple when it comes to dining at Bal Harbour Shops. During my first visit, I was able to enjoy dinner service at about 9pm. Pictured is the usagi (similar to a pisco sour), tuna crispy rice (the house specialty), rock shrimp, spicy edamame, Japanese eggplant, shishito peppers, lychee and Mochi. Everything was absolutely delicious. Favorites were reordered (rock shrimp, tuna crispy rice and shishito peppers). That’s not to say the other plates weren’t good but these three were just that good. Drinks were all consistent as well. I switched over to a spicy pineapple margarita while my guests kept with the spicy margarita option that stayed super tasty and always refilled after meeting our server, Anthony. He was super friendly and attentive throughout our entire stay. So much that we can back a few days later for lunch and was hosted my Maddie. She is such a delight and was also super friendly and welcoming while eating at the bar. The last two photos are the sushi bar options (chu-toro, king Salmon, tamago and a spicy yellowtail roll). The sushi was incredibly fresh and worth the visit. Hopeful to visit in the future very soon! Make sure you make reservations if you can because there can be quite a wait if not. Overall, Makoto is definitely my new favorite.
What a special space. I love the new Makoto on the 3 floor. So much more space and a feeling of luxury. Food is always delicious and service is always great. Highly recommend the Brussels and rock shrimp. Can’t go wrong with any of their sushi rolls. My friend got chicken and rice and enjoyed her plate. Carlos and Makoto thank you so much for the experience.
