Bidrage med feedbackNice location and we sat outside under umbrellas in the prevailing good weather. Service was prompt and cheerful, after drinks we decided to have lunch, the porc was tasty, the lasagne (beef and chicken) was better than expected but hardly made it to lukewarm. Just need to check dishes before they leave the kitchen and this would have rated a “good”. Good desserts and coffee to finish.
This was one of the few places that we found open for lunch on a wet, cold windy Monday in Bagneres-de-Bigorre, but it was very busy which we thought was a good sign. So it turned out to be. Although the staff did not speak English, we managed to indicate that we were interested in the Formule/Plat du Jour menu were soon mixing it with the locals. Quite noisy many tables squeezed into the area in close proximity, but it all seemed to add to the authenticity. Spouse had an entree main, whilst I opted for a main course only. We also shared a lovely bottle of Rose. Spouses entree was a salad with lardons topped with a poached egg. He indicated that it was one of the tastiest salads he has eaten.....high praise indeed. He chose the St Pierre fish I, the chicken mushrooms both were fabulous. Nice sized serves full of flavour. We also chose a cheese platter to finish it came with 3 nice cheeses which we quickly demolished. A very nice lunch well worth the visit.
I would first like to say that this review does not apply to Madame/waitress who was delightful. However the male members of staff were rude and inattentive. All conversation was conducted in French so no insult on my part. We had to wait ages and ask twice before we could order. My request for an entrée without meat was rudely refused then my husband’s entrée appeared...a salad with slices of rabbit terrine on top. Surely it wouldn’t have been difficult to prepare just a salad! The main course of bream was served with spaghetti and potatoes, an oily pepper and iceberg lettuce! Well below what we have come to expect from French cuisine. The water we requested never arrived. We only stopped here because nowhere else was offering fish on their menu...we have learned our lesson...check the reviews before requesting a table in future
Well, this has become our resturant of choice for lunch on a sunny day. Tables outside and pretty good service from friendly staff. 3 courses for 15 euros inc coffee. Today was homemade Quiche au thon, followed by a lovely fish dish (Rouget) and again homemade Chou with creame pistachio for dessert, all excellent, beautifully cooked and presented. It gets very busy on market day, Saturday so arrive early!
We were in Bagneres for the Saturday market and decided to have lunch. This was a lovely café/restaurant. We sat outside and enjoyed 2 courses with a glass of wine for 14e, very good value and quality. The main course was lamb and it was cooked beautifully. Service excellent and when we went inside to use the toilets, we were surprised at how large the café was. Tables all beautifully set out and it was busy. Will remember this place for our next trip.
