Bidrage med feedbackIt would be easy to overlook this dining option one floor above the entrance to the Hotel Metropol. That would be a mistake. A friendly crew welcomes you here with Swiss comfort food. The bratwurst is indeed excellent. Get a window table and watch the...world go by on the Bahnhofplatz.
Can't say anything about the rooms because I didn't stay there, but the restaurant downstairs is very convenient for the train station (it's just opposite and they don't mind if you park your luggage under the table), and they serve excellent St Gallen bratwurst....Not at all expensive. N.B. Bratwurst is typical of St Gallen. They eat it all the time. It's usually sold from kiosks, but of course if you get it from a kiosk you can't sit down. You can have it with chips or bread. Never, ever put mustard on your bratwurst in St Gallen.
At the entrance we were kindly received and led to the reserved table. The selection is large enough: four menus, including a vegetarian dish, consisting of suppe or salat, main dish as well as a small dessert and that for under 30 francs. the quality of eating was excellent and the service attentive, cheerful and set up. there are also white and red wine per glass. Although the restaurant was fully occupied, the menu drain went speditiw.
Dining alone on New Year's Eve usually proves a challenge - for those wanting neither long festive meals nor junk fast-food.Restaurant O'premier was the perfect choice for me: cozy yet informal atmosphere, nice à-la-carte menu, top service. Focus is on the dining, not the party - the restaurant closed at 11pm!A great thumbs-up to the restaurant team: friendly and attentive service during the entire dinner. The hotel manager greeted each table personally - a much appreciated gesture. The food was really tasty. Many tables seemed to have regular guests, which is always a good thing. As starter I chose the "tagliatelle con fontina": tagliatelle, Belper Knolle (cheese from the Bern region,) Grappa, poached egg. Truly delicious but definitely not for the health-conscious! As main course the monkfish medaillons and accompanying Champagne risotto tasted very good, portion was generous. As dessert I unreasonably indulged into a Glühwein panna cotta served with a small chocolate cake.Definitely an enjoyable dining experience!
Price performance does not matter ok but portion as for small children. service ok but not very toovirent.
