Bidrage med feedbackWe visited as a family whilst staying in Bad Zwischenahn, food was lovely, staff very attentive and in traditional dress! Beer was great. We had some lovely traditional wholesome German food consisting of fried potato, onion, sausages and seafood. Would definitely recommend - but you need to book!
While vacationing from Vancouver, visiting relatives in Wilhelmshaven for a week, my brother & his wife took my husband and I to " Der Spieker " for a special dinner after visiting the delightful village of Bad Zwischenahn. We loved this beautiful rustic and historic Bauernhaus Restaurant very much. It had a wonderful atmosphere and ambience during our meal. My husband does not speak German and while I was trying to translate, our very friendly waitress handed him a menu in English. She was dressed in the traditional costume of the Ammerlaender area we were told. The food was all very delicious especially my dinner of Bratherring & Crispy Fried Potatoes. My brother had the Suelze with Fried Potatoes which he orders every time he comes to this Restaurant. My husband's favourite beer is Erdinger Weissbier and was quite happy to see it on the menu as well as the "Weber Spezial" which he enjoyed! We will definitely come back next time we are in Wilhelmshaven! I would recommend this Restaurant highly for anyone visiting the beautiful village at the Lake.
We are visiting friends in Bad Zwischenahn, whom we met some years ago in Thailand. My husband's family is from Germany, so an uncle of his drove from Darmstadt to meet us for dinner. We chose Der Spieker for its authentic cuisine. We all enjoyed our meals. We had several 'shots' of a local schnapps, which was served in a rustic metal spoon. I'm not sure on the wisdom of doing that, as today we are all a little crusty. LOL! The traditional building, the waiters in traditional costume, and the food ... a special treat, for sure!
We are on our German Vacation from California. Beautiful rustic setting not far from Bremen where my wife comes from originally. Her best friend suggested a day trip by train to discover the "REAL" countryside of Germany instead of just staying in the City. All three of us enjoyed the outing, Both my wife and her girl friend savoured the Eel. I just had a taste of it but enjoyed the more traditional German cuisine of Weiner Schnitzel and Kartoffel salat. Definitely worth the visit!
Just 9 miles from Oldenburg you will find this beautiful area called Bad Zwischenahn, with this wonderfull restaurante. In Spieker you like to enjoy the Ammerländer hospitality and feel at home. As annex of Ammerländer farmhouse, and therefore part of the existing since 1910 Museum of Spieker corresponds with its rustic decor of the original style half-timbered style.Powerful, dark wood beams, pale brick walls and a beautiful stone floor, bins Chairs and massive wooden tables determine the rural character of the house.Heavy oak barrels under the counter, pewter and in the cold season, a blazing fire in the fireplace give guests the cozy Atmoshäre.Let waiters in original Ammerländer costumes serve you with regional specialties like smoked eel or enjoy outside in the large beer garden with its old fruit trees right on Bad Zwischenahn waterfront a cold german beer.In my opinion a must see if traveling though Ammerland
