Romantik Hotel Zum Stern - Bad Hersfeld

We had dinner in the outside seating area in the small square, so not the l'Etable gourmet restaurant. Nevertheless, the food had all the markings of a skilled chef. The extremely tasteful freebie starter from the kitchen set the tone well for the rest of...the meal. Really good and refined tasting dishes, much more elegant than the typical German fare. We had a good Spätburgunder with the food. Highly recommended.

We had just one night, but we really enjoyed it. The hotel is very well situated right in the center of the city on the marketplace. We had a nice view over the marketplace and although there was a bit of noice Friday morning when...they started setting up the stands it just gave a special feeling to the stay. We had dinner in the “normal restaurant” (there’s a Michelin star restaurant as well), and it was very clear that the menu is prepared in the same kitchen it was just amazing and yet at reasonable prices. Probably the best fish soup ever. The breakfast buffet is very nicely setup and overwhelming you can get almost what you want. So this was a perfect overnight on our way to Italy One small complaint is that the Irish Coffee was made with a very Smokey schotts which made it almost undrinkable !

I have been staying at the Romantik Hotel zum Stern every year I come to town and they were not totally booked. It is a quaint small hotel in in the center of the historic old section where no cars can drive anymore. That is...a very nice and convenient location. My room seemed to be newly redecorated this year and very comfortable. Use of Wifi is included, also the use of a small minibar. There also is a wellness center where you can get massages, and other treatment and use a pool and sauna. The office staff is extremely friendly and accommodating and lent me a small cable and converter for my Mac as mine was not working, I thought that was beyond the call of duty. The hotel is kept sparkling clean. Food served in the restaurant is wonderful and eclectic. Waitstaff is also very friendly and competent and attentive except for breakfast I once had the misfortune of encountering one who did not meet that criteria. There is a daily very lavish breakfast buffet. The only criticism I have is that the parking situation is very tight, but unavoidable because of the historic setting. This is a my favorite place to stay in Bad Hersfeld.

I was with a group of six colleagues and we had an excellent dinner in the zum Stern restaurant. Pls note that this has a Michelin bib gourmande. Le Etoile in the same hotel as a Michelin star, so it's name the star) is...very appropriate. We all had very nice starters and excellent mains. Recommendable.
