Bidrage med feedbackPerfect coffee and cake in a quiet Austrian town, what can be better, Great selection and cheaper prices than in the big towns
On the way from the salt mountain towards the lakeside of the small town of Hallstatt. Very friendly staff, excellent pastries and snacks ("Weckerl").
Very nice café - a great option for breakfast, lunch and dinner in summer (outside seating option available), as well as in winter (hot chocolate after a day of skiing, yes please!). We have been in Bad Goisern plenty of times and Maislinger Café is always worth a visit. Bread and pastry is homemade and delicious, many local bread types available.
& Reasonable prices Located in the middle of Badgoisern Nice waitress I had Ham and eggs (3 eggs) with a handmade "Semmel" very good My friend had a "Müsli" also very good Coffee was good
This seemed to be the only café in the small town of Bad Goisern, and on first impressions it looked as if it would be nice. And it was okay, but not quite as nice as we hoped. Firstly, we had to walk through a very smoky bar area to get to the non-smoking section of the cafe, which wasn't a good welcome. Our waitress was distinctly surly, and I made the mistake of asking for milk to go with my tea - I should have known from previous experience that such a request causes consternation outside the UK! Even though I made it clear when I ordered (in German) that I wanted some milk, it didn't arrive, and we had to ask again. The tea itself was also much too weak, with one teabag when there should have been two. On the other hand, they have excellent cake, and did a good ice cream sundae. So overall, not bad, but 'could do better'. They are probably resting on their laurels as they don't have too much competition. Just don't order tea!
