Thai Basil - Aurora

I was really let down by this restaurant. After ordering a large draft beer, the bartender told me that all the taps were out of order that day—even though it wasn’t morning anymore—and simply offered me a bottle instead, which was much cheaper. There was only one other customer there besides me, and she had to go up to the bar just to ask for her check after waiting far too long at her table without anyone checking on her. Another man walked in and stood at the hostess station for about five minutes before anyone acknowledged him. The food was only passable, and the service was severely lacking. Given the many other dining options in the area, it's no wonder this place was nearly empty during the lunch rush.

My panang curry was flavorful, featuring quality white meat chicken, which is essential for me. The portion size was generous, and the inclusion of sweet potatoes in the curry was a nice addition. We requested that the dishes be spicy when ordering, but I was a bit let down by the lack of heat in the curry, though I still found it enjoyable. I'm looking forward to savoring the leftovers for a few more meals. Lastly, we tried the pad Thai. I was again somewhat disappointed by its mildness, but it was still a decent pad Thai. My husband commented that there was too much meat for his taste, as he prefers more noodles, but I doubt that would be a concern for most diners. I can't wait to explore more adventurous dishes from the menu on my next visit, but for a night of comfort food while watching football, this meal was exactly what I needed.
