Bidrage med feedbackI really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service from the waitstaff. They were very attentive, making my visit a true pleasure. My friend and I sampled the pork chop, a shrimp dish, bread pudding, coffee, and the Creature Comforts beer. The shrimp and the pudding were outstanding, and the beer was excellent as always. However, the pork chop was a bit too salty, and that saltiness intensified with the mac and cheese served beneath it. The coffee, unfortunately, was a big miss. Despite that, I love the vibe here. While the food can be a bit pricey, it’s definitely worth visiting every now and then for good food and a wonderful atmosphere!
I had a very disappointing experience at FIVE Athens on my wife's birthday. We arrived just after 6:30 PM on a Friday and were seated right away, which was a nice surprise. Unfortunately, that was where the positives ended. We ordered the pan chicken and the cheeseburger, but after a party of five and another of eight, who arrived after us, were served before us, we started to feel frustrated. Over an hour after placing our order, our meals finally arrived. The chicken was overcooked and nearly burnt, while the burger was cold. Although we appreciated the two complimentary drinks offered to us, we still felt let down. I shared my concerns about our experience, but the two drinks were the only compensation provided. Sadly, we won't be returning.
We started with the fried green tomatoes, which were cooked to perfection and paired with the most delicious creamy goat cheese. We both chose the shrimp pasta, which is unusual for us since we usually order different dishes, but it sounded too enticing to pass up—and it did not disappoint! Both the shrimp and pasta were cooked flawlessly. The dish also included a salad dressed just right and a grilled lime for squeezing (absolutely fantastic!). And the sauce? I can hardly find the words to describe it! It was so delicious that I felt tempted to lick the plate! I didn’t actually do that, but I did save the garlic toast for that job! The service was exceptional, with the manager even stopping by our table to ensure everything met our expectations. The ambiance struck a perfect balance between romantic and casual. I can’t wait to try all the other specialties on the menu. Thank you, Five, for a spectacular meal!
Eating is a bit expensive, but it's worth thinking. I tried the breakfast burrito and huh and waddle. the burrito was great, no complaining and served with excellent boiled hashbrowns. the waffel was as I like it, fluffy and crispy. the fried chicken was perfectly cooked.
Moreover, I ordered a cup of decaf coffee to complement our meal, but they were out. The waiter informed me that they only brew one pot of decaf each day and didn’t mention making more until I asked why that was the case. Coffee is one of the simplest things to prepare; it’s puzzling not to provide fresh coffee when it only takes about three minutes to brew a new pot. It’s frustrating that we spent $76 for brunch for two and ended up feeling sick from the food, without enjoying our meals. This used to be one of our favorite brunch spots pre-pandemic, but it has significantly declined. What’s most disappointing is that our waiter was clearly aware of our dissatisfaction with the dry eggs in the burrito and the dry burger, yet he did nothing to remedy the situation. No manager came to speak with us, and no one offered to remake our food or to do anything to improve our experience. Our waiter knew exactly how we were feeling but didn’t attempt to make it right. We won’t be returning, and I wouldn't recommend wasting your money at this establishment. What was once our favorite brunch place is no longer worth it.
