District Mot - Astoria

Ordered the pork belly pot and short rib fried rice. The food was good, but maybe we were too hungry for the portion size. Drinks were pretty good, prices are decent. Music and ambiance was very good.

We love District MOT/Saigon/w/e, for the pretty decor, the unusually flavorful starters, the solidly crafted entrees, the friendly service, and the good value, and this visit was no exception. A small service hick up could have been dealt better with ... we ordered an extra serving of rice for the generous curry chicken, but no rice showed up ... more than five minutes later we lost our patience it's really just a bowl of rice, right, and we were somewhat stuck in the meal without it? Eventually we managed to flag down another member of the very busy staff and repeated the order ... still nothing. Finally, more than 10 minutes after our first attempt, TWO rice bowls arrived, oh well. And of course we were billed for both. But, short of this small incident it was really a lovely experience.

I try to eat only ethically sourced meat, so I especially love that District Mot (aka District Saigon) has free-range chicken pho. A go to!
