Le Mandrie Di San Paolo - ASSISI

I found this gem after doing some extensive research and I cannot tell you how grateful I was that I did. I spent a beautiful almost magical weekend here. Situated on a hill overlooking the magnificent landscape of Assisi and Umbria, Le Mandrie almost felt like it was a dream come true. My pictures came out gorgeous but still, do little justice to all that is happening here. The structure and people inside it and everything coming out of their kitchen and their land absolutely took my breath away. I was welcomed in a way that made me feel so special ...and it continued on this way throughout every minute of my stay. Marco is truly a wonderful person and the most gracious host. I was felt so cared. And they all really do care! The two owners (brothers) were equally amazing. Their hospitality and the quality of their agriturismo, their terrain and all of their products everything is done with love, passion and respect. Their mission is truly beautiful as is the way they stay true to themselves and with the nature which surrounds them. My room was super adorable and comfortable (also much bigger than I had imagined! The grounds were tranquil, peaceful and serene (I must have taken 100 photos my first night there) And the food and wine (especially their homemade vino)....INCREDIBLE. In fact almost everything I consumed from the breads, jams, cheeses, pasta and meats were all homemade and straight from the farm. All of my meals there outstanding. I still remember vividly the taste of each and every dish I ate! I also shared some very special moments at Le Mandrie that I will treasure forever. I can't wait to return and will recommend your magical place to anyone I can in the interim! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

There is a great view to Assisi and surroundings, the food was ok, but nothing special. Pasta with truffle was very good, chicken and salad boring and tasteless. Staff was rather arrogant and stressed. Only one waiter was helpful, friendly and kind. The restaurant itself is very nice, inside and outside. The access road and parking isn’t suitable for deep cars, a lot of holes and in a bad shape. Be careful if you drive a sports car! All in all a nice location with average food. I definitely expected more.

Owner is very proud of his food and served meats and cheeses to our plates without asking then proceeded to excoriate and bully a member of our party who wasnt eating it for wasting food. Treating a customer like that is intolerable. If there were a next time I would throw the food on the floor. I have never seen a customer treated like that. Umbria is full of excellent restaurants with food just as good or better so this one can be avoided.

Absolutely fantastic eating with wonderful ambiente. it wasn't too expensive either. the olive oil was the best we had tried in the toscana and Umbria. the owner is also a beautiful man who lets us generously sample some of their delicious apertivos at the end of the night at the bar. after a long day he was exhausted, but still found the energy to be incredibly gracious to us. a must visit place!
