Parker's Smokehouse - Ashland

We love fried catfish, so we drove nearly an hour for the promise of a good meal. The catfish batter was too thick, too hard, and too salty. It was supposed to be lightly Cajun seasoned, but all I could taste was the salt. It was barely tolerable for me, but my husband was fine with it, so there's that. I waffles on the number of stars to give the food because, thought I didn't care for the fish, the onion rings were perfection! I loved the horseradish sauce they were served with. The baked beans were so delicious, too. They had lots of pulled pork and chunks of peppers. I would have been happier if I had only eaten those two items. We didn't go for the barbecue, so I can't review that. The server was super sweet, but the ambiance was noisy with the high ceilings and no noise buffers. The place was packed, so I'm sure they'll continue to do well.

We were exploring the area and decided to stop in for in and glad we did. My wife had the fried chicken salad with homemade honey mustard dressing, croutons cornbread muffin. The salad was excellent and huge. I had a brisket sandwich and coleslaw. Both were really good the brisket was moist, tender with an excellent flavor the smoke was present but did not overpower the beef flavor. I didn’t use any sauce because it had such a great flavor. They have many local brews on tap I chose the Cardinal Pale Ale. It was also quite good nice head along with the lace it lasted the whole pint.

My husband and i have been here several times for dinner. We are always greeted by the hostess or the Owner. The food is delicious i usually have the tender chicken and my husband has the tender an flavorful ribs with the right amount of smokey char. The pulled pork is juicy and complimented by their house made barbeque sauce which is the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. All the sides they offer are also amazing. The service is top notch and pricing is reasonable. This place always exceeds my expectations. If you love barbeque or are just looking for a great meal i highly recommend you try Parker's Smokehouse. Make reservations or go early as they do get busy.
