Bella Mia - Ashfield

Visited with friends and was really looking forward to a real lasagne, as had enjoyed on many previous visits. Waited an age for it to be cooked, the presentation was not good, not even served with any salad garnish and the meat was non existent. They gave us some free olives as an apology for the wait (only a couple of other diners as we went early doors) but won’t ever order lasagne there again!

Found this place by chance while passing through and v pleased we did. Tasty food and wine and prompt, polite service. If you're a limoncello fan, do try the pudding with frozen limoncello, soft cheese, lemon ice cream, amaretto biscuit and sauce, mmm! Our plans had to change, unfortunately, so missed eating there the following night. Would certainly revisit if in area again.

We have frequented this restaurant for years, enjoying family and couples meals. However, our last visit was disappointing. After our meal, we sat in the bar for a drink and were disturbed by an extremely loud man and his partner who were shouting incessantly. Despite spending £100, we couldn't relax and enjoy our time. After half an hour of the noise, my partner asked the man to stop shouting, only to receive abuse in return. The staff defended the man, claiming he was their favorite customer, despite us being regulars who had spent a significant amount of money there. When offered a £10 voucher for our next meal, we declined, as it was not about the money but the ruined experience. Unfortunately, we have not returned since the change in ownership, as one loud and disruptive customer should not take precedence over others.

The experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing considering the price. The fact that the restaurant was empty, while other nearby restaurants were full, was a red flag. The two waitresses were polite and friendly when taking our order. The quantity of food was generous, but the quality left much to be desired. The Fritto Misto, a mix of fried fish, calamari, and prawns, was bitter and had an off taste. The Farfalle with salmon and prawns had a large portion size, but there were very few tiny prawns in the dish. The smoked salmon was acceptable, but the sauce was off. The Limoncello ice cream for dessert was disappointing, as it seemed store-bought and lacked flavor. The addition of an amaretti biscuit instead of the promised meringue was a letdown. The atmosphere was further dampened by the odd mix of music, which included Italian songs, techno, and Spanish reggaeton, making the dining experience less enjoyable.
