Bidrage med feedbackI went to get a dozen or so corn tortillas to try. It's very sketchy and has piles of junk outside. Not very good signage. You have to know it's there next door to the gas station. However, the corn tortillas were fairly fresh, and good.
I was humming down Patton in the McStylesMobile when suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I caught the word 'Tortillaria '. I made a mental note as to the location and knew I was gonna have to check into it sooner than later. Turned out to be sooner than that. A little research online revealed that not only did they make tortillas, but they also had a small counter where you could grub on tacos and the like. The next afternoon I grabbed the Senora and headed back that way. Talk about hole in the wall; they have 4 bar stools at their tiny counter and standing room for about 5, maybe. The menu was simple and, with the exception of their burrito offering, consisted solely of authentic comida mexicana. The shredded chicken tacos came on fresh corn tortillas with cilantro and onions. There was certainly no shortage of chicken and the green salsa had just the right amount of kick. Prices were a tad higher than I thought theyd be for where I was (Tacos were $1.75 each) but were still worth every penny. Turns out a quarter kilo of flour tortillas (about 15 of them) were only $1.25. That certainly trumps what you pay for the **** ones you find at Ingles and just about anywhere else, that are more preservatives than they are tortillas. I will be returning to Mr. Sauve for a little more of this and that in the near future.
Very rich!
Great, authentic tacos and some enticing burritos.
