This place is not accepting the Asheville Deal coupons. They wait till the end to tell you. Do not waste your time or money.Waitress was ok, seemed rushed for it not being busy. My partner asked if they had mole sauce. She told us they only had red sauce and cheese but then came back and told us that the cook said the red sauce is mole. When it came out it looked and tasted like the most bland canned red enchilada sauce ever. At the end of the meal I asked if the cook knew what mole sauce was, cause what they gave us claiming to be mole is not mole. There is no cocoa, or cinnamon or any spices at all in it. The look on her face made it clear that she knew that was not mole. Not sure why she thought lying about this was a great idea unless she just thought we were stupid people who wouldn't know the difference.
The volcano is wonderful. Most well hidden gem in Asheville. A lot of food for the cost. Chichiron’s are spactacular
Terrible. The chips tasted like weird burnt plastic and the queso was inedible. All of the food was flavorless. My wife had chicken enchiladas and said the chicken was dry and flavorless and the red enchilada sauce tasted like plain tomato sauce from a can. I panic ordered the Volcano bowl which unfortunately was a bowl of boiling queso with griddled frozen veggies floating in it. (The veggies had been described as “California vegetables,” whatever that means. Standard frozen cauliflower, crinkle cut corn, etc. and then with a side plate of like 1/4 cup of black beans, rice, and shredded lettuce. Totally unseasoned. I feel poisoned by the chips and queso. Got bad feelings when we saw how empty the place was. This was for good reason. Never again.
No flavor, had to add salt and pepper to everything. Got the Colorado verde steak .. very very chewy, over cooked.. Ordered a horchata, literally tasted like regular milk jut watered down. Not feeling too great after that lunch... lesson learned
