Bidrage med feedbackLooks like they just relocated into this very clean and neat space. Tuesday by 5:45pm the place was full. Food is better than your average sushi place. Menu is rather upscale and gourmet ish , but prices just right. Best sushi place in the area.
Got the Toraya Tokusei Bento Box to go for $25 before tax and tip. This place is AMAZING. It's a small storefront in Arlington that has just a few employees. The food is a little bit slow to be made, but it's obviously very fresh and a lot of care is put into making it I placed an order over the phone at 11:30am right when they open and my box wasn't ready until 12:30, so keep that in mind when planning! I got the Bento Box which was really unlike any other bento I've ever had tons of unique things that I'd never had before, fresh bites everywhere. I wish I had some descriptions of what things were so I could ask again! Highly recommend this if you're even remotely adventurous of an eater so many things to try. I got the food to go so I only quickly got to go inside the restaurant. There's less than 10 tables for sure, and with the food being pretty slow to be made I think it might be pretty difficult to get a table at times. That being said, the food is really just SO unique that it's worth a shot if you're on the fence really amazing and unlike anything else in Arlington or the surrounding area!
Really good Japanese food but horrible service. The waitress is always so rude. Recently I asked if I could go grab something on my car while we were still in line for a table and she rudely told me that she can't hold our spot in the line. Most restaurants take down your name and call you when your table is ready. I hope they invest some money to hire another waitress because even though their food is delicious I will think twice about coming again based on their attitude. It shows they don't care about their customers or maybe they just care about their regulars or other Japanese people.
It was a warm Friday night and we didn't want to cook. That was the trigger, simple, right? What it lead to was several hours at Toraya an eye opening experience and one that surprised and delighted us. Toraya is simply laid out and focused on the dining experience. Service is attentive and direct. This attentiveness is to ensure that everyone can focus on what I would call the best Japanese food in the Boston area. Our first time visiting revealed that Arlington has a gem in Toraya. Everything, from the konomono to the kamo rosu, was perfectly composed, thought through, and presented. We will be returning with the objective to eat every single dish.
The sushi is sublime, but I also come here for the agedashi tofu and yasai. The beauty of the plating is unmatched.
