Bidrage med feedbackThis is a comfortable small place for a light meal. we ate both salate. they had sweet pickles and mint on them, which was a delicious surprise. another surprise was that the place was not sniffing about wein, as we feared it could be. have cheap local weine on the list as well as chic expensive. but they're all good. I give them because of good eating and drinking and a total lack of pretension.
We sat outside and drank an evening cry and saw the people over. we liked it so much that we had a few nights back and dinner. the butternut quash soup is enchanting.
Although steps away from the Place du Forum, which is littered with touristy cafés that spill into the side streets, this place somehow escapes that taint. The atmosphere is relaxed, the food very good and well-prepared. Nice wine and charcuterie selections. A lovely, quiet stop...away from the hubbub without having to trek. Good photography of French cinema, music, and art icons on the walls.
My wife and I were on a months holiday through Portugal and the South of France. Arles was our seventh stop. We'd lucked out with a marvelous little restaurant the night before and had hopes for more of the same from Bar a Vin.. Not...to be unfortunately. We weren't asking for much either, but even a simple Croque Monsieur salad was beyond this place. My note was SHOCKING'.. likewise for my wifes Feta&Sardine salad down) and I added Bad Bread
An incident? Let's give it the benefit of the doubt. When we came in it was after to try a few wines with local cheeses. The girl behind the counter poured us a little bit to taste a special rouge but never managed to...come back to us to take the order of the cheese plates and wines. Not because she was busy (there were other people in the bar at that moment) but she kept chatting with a client and seemed wooly-minded. After minutes waiting and trying to get her attention we left, helas.
