Ellemay's Family Cafe - Ardmore

I recently stumbled upon a fantastic Southern Country Diner that gets everything just right! With its blue-painted cinder block walls, concrete floors, and metal tables and chairs, the diner has a cozy and welcoming ambiance. The owner, dressed in overalls, was busy smoking BBQ ribs in the back, adding to the place's charm. We stopped by for breakfast and were thrilled with a generous plate featuring eggs, chicken-fried steak, gravy, grits, and homemade biscuits. My wife opted for a simple egg sandwich on bread since she wasn't feeling her best. The coffee was outstanding, and the service was excellent. Before leaving, Daniel, the owner, kindly gave me two ribs to take home. When I tried them later, the meat was so tender it practically fell off the bone. Without a doubt, we’ll be back for dinner. This charming spot truly offers an authentic taste of America—simple, genuine, and serving amazing food! Plus, our total bill was just $16, including the tip. You really can't beat that! It’s a bit tricky to find, but there are helpful signs along the way. They're located just behind the L&S Shopping Center on Whitt Street. Enjoy!

I would definitely advise against visiting this restaurant. It's disappointing to say that, especially since the staff was friendly, but the food was underwhelming. The table wasn't clean, and the coffee was served cold. We went for breakfast, and it was rather unappetizing. I usually appreciate cozy diners, but this one fell short of my expectations. Even my husband, who usually eats anything, struggled to finish his meal, which says a lot.

My family visited the restaurant soon after it opened, and unfortunately, our experience was rather disappointing. The establishment was not clean, the food was greasy and flavorless, and there were several groups of people—teenagers, children, and some individuals who seemed to be neither customers nor staff—hanging out at the back.
