Libation - Arcata

My favorite place for wein before I came here, I thought that beer was more interesting than wein; wow was me naiw. I ask the owner to surprise me, and I have never been disappointed.

Good selection with new options frequently added, including unusual wines to get us out of our comfort zone! and owner and staff are very helpful. Bar and seating areas are great.

Stopped in while staying in Arcata for a week around New Years. This wine bar was a lovely counterpoint to the dive bars across the square. Don’t get me wrong- I love a good dive bar, but this is the opposite of that and it’s great. The giant wooden counter in the window is the BEST place to sit over a glass of wine and look out at the square and all. Carol was really sweet, and made some excellent suggestions for my trip. We had the champagne flight for new years, and there was one obvious winner.

Naryan, the owner, has invested a lot into making this a comfortable place for his patrons. Always clean and inviting. Great view of the Arcata Plaza. Outstanding wine selection and Naryan is always happy to offer his advice on what would be the perfect bottle for your occasion. Visiting Libation on Saturdays is always the highlight of my week.

Good, diverse selection of European wines plus top notch US wines from lesser known labels. Relaxed setting to try one of their by-the-glass selections, as you watch the world go by.
