WHAT THE ??? WOW!!! I'VE TRAVELED ALL OVER THE WORLD!!! NOW I'VE FOUND A NEW GOLD STANDARD FOR WINERIES!!! AMAZING!!!!
We visited this place for some wine and had a fantastic experience! Sally was an amazing host, the wine was enjoyable, and the conversation was even better!
I had the absolute worst experience at this local winery. Upon arrival, we were greeted at the entrance by a woman who asked, in the least welcoming tone, “How many are you?” She was blocking the door. I informed her that we had reservations under Cindy’s name and then my own, to which she rudely responded, “All I have are reservations for Tony V.” Still obstructing our entry, she insisted, “I need to collect $50 for the catering fee from Tony immediately!” I told her I was unsure when Tony would arrive and asked if we could go inside. She turned and stormed off to the area designated for us. I took a seat at the end of one of the tables, closest to a small round table where the owners, Dave and Teresa, typically sat. I recognized them because when they first opened their winery, they were quite friendly. On this particular day, however, despite being just a couple of feet away from Teresa, she never made eye contact, greeted me, or even wished me a Happy Birthday. A simple “Thanks for celebrating with us” would have been appreciated. Instead, her demeanor only added to the discomfort we’d already experienced upon our arrival. Around 2:15 PM, Mary approached me again, asking where Tony was because she needed the catering fee. I explained that I had no control over his arrival time. The caterer showed up around 2:20, but my brother had not yet arrived. Unbeknownst to me, Mary charged the catering fee to the caterer right away! When my Nina and Nino arrived, I was busy greeting them when Mary interrupted to tell them they had to sit down because they were “in the way.” We just exchanged bewildered looks, finished our conversation, and they politely took their seats. Upon our arrival, we had asked Mary if it was okay for the three kids in our group to use the driveway, which was roped off. She hesitantly replied, “Well, you know there are rattlesnakes… but I’ll leave it up to your discretion.” The kids were just being kids and ran through our area once. I stopped them and reminded them to be respectful to the other guests. Moments later, another woman approached me aggressively and demanded to know whose kids they were. I stood and told her they were mine and that I had already spoken to them. Her response was, “YOU NEED TO CONTAIN THEM!” I firmly told her I wouldn’t because they’re not animals, and she repeated, “YOU NEED TO CONTAIN THEM!” Witnessing all this, our guests were incredulous. This woman was downright hostile. Amidst the tension, my Compadre told her, “You can walk away now.” To which she defiantly replied, “I AM NOT WALKING AWAY!” Finally, as she turned to leave, several of us exclaimed, “Wow!” and she spun around, shouting, “SAY IT TO MY FACE!!!” I won’t waste time offering constructive criticism because this establishment should know better than to treat people so poorly. The degrading, humiliating, and inappropriate behavior we experienced felt deliberate. From the moment we made our reservations, it was clear that we weren’t welcome.
I'm truly amazed at how much the price of wine has increased. A bottle that used to be $17 last year is now $29. I usually enjoy recommending this restaurant because of its wonderful atmosphere, live music, and overall fun experience. We typically order 2-3 bottles when we visit, which now adds up to over $100, including the tip. I’ll definitely need to reconsider going back again.
