Bidrage med feedbackWent there for first time on Sunday 9 July about 1 pm. Waited about 15 mins to be allocated a seat. Ordered the meal and also a glass of orange juice. The juice came in 5 mins in a glass half full! The waitress said that they ran out of juice and that was whatever left and also that they’re not going to charge for that! I would’ve been happier if not given that half-full glass of juice. I said instead if she could bring us some water and she said she will but that never happened. After about half an hour when our meal arrived we asked for water and the waitress (a different girl) said that that’s self-service while pointing to the tap! However, they were serving water to others! Not being in the mood of arguing at all, I approached to the tap with piles of jars and glasses next to it and grabbed some water. Later I noticed that all those jars/glasses next to the water tap were dirty, returned from tables, waiting to be washed! With my wife, was quite disappointed that drank from dirty glasses! After paying the bill, and without noticing at the time, we paid $4.8 for the half-full glass of juice (with $1.2 discount, believing or not!). I’m just surprised that how they measured the juice, being 1/5 less of the total volume, giving $1.2 discount of the $6 full price!
We just love this place and go there often. The menu changes from time to time and the food is always fresh, tasty and very interesting. The coffee is the best in Annandale and surrounds and the service is laid back. It is usually busy so in writing this review on one hand we want other folks to know about this little gem but on the other hand want to keep it to ourselves. This place is also just great for folks with young children as there is a little park and play area across the road and Cornersmith provides picnic blankets for you to take over to the park with your coffee and food.
Annandale is well blessed with an array of coffee shops, all serving excellent coffee. The Cornersmith is my go to place for coffee here, it's the best I have tasted, smooth, full flavoured and well made. Friendly service and great price, no wonder I am drawn here every morning
Yes, a well made and hot enough coffee in a hipster Cafe us a rare thing. The coffee was at least 8/10. I've had two excellent coffees there and if the standard is consistent they'll be able to hit at least 9.5!Now let's talk salads. There are side salads and salads. The distinguishing feature is that a salad has a central feature.. E.g. An egg, some haloumi, perhaps roast pumpkin or even some nuts.So when the menu presents that the salad will have, as it's distinguishing feature, some hazelnuts to justify a cost of $18 then the hazelnuts should be present. Otherwise all one is getting is a side-salad, worth at most $9.If you've run put of hazelnuts then tell the customer so they know they are about to be ripped off and give them the option of choosing something else.CornerSmith is one of the reasons that hipsters have a bad name. If you go there order coffee and always double check that the rest of your order is complete.Otherwise go to one of the cafes on Johnston St where the people and the food is honest.
Just as beautiful as the original, with that perfect local, cosy, wholesome feel to it. A super inspired and fresh menu, of course featuring the best housemade jams and pickles, however was super disappointed at the lack of vegan options considering it's a totally vegetarian cafe! Tried to see if I could sub some cheese out of one of the dishes and the waitress was pretty unhelpful. Hopefully next time I venture over there will be a couple more dishes to choose from!
