Zingerman's Roadhouse - Ann Arbor

I prefer Zingerman's roadhouse over the deli but that might be my personal opinion.

Whoa man how have I lived in Ann Arbor so long and not visited this place yet! First, the atmosphere is much more laid back than I anticipated.

We enjoyed the calamari, the seasonal seafood chowder (a must-try), and the fried whole catfish at the restaurant.

It had been a few years since we'd been to Zocalo, but it was every bit as good as we remembered it. There were still some favorites on the menu, but some new dishes as well, and they didn't disappoint. This is the one menu among many in Charlottesville that is truly different and exciting. I had the duck breast, which was perfectly cooked and accompanied by a great sauce, braised chard and an onion and manchego bread pudding, and my wife loved her salmon. My starter, the tuna tartar, was too die for and had a healthy kick to it. Highly recommended!

Our family enjoyed the outdoor seating and the servers did a fabulous job moving other tables inside quickly when rain hit out of the blue. We were under an umbrella and a large tree and didn't have to move and the rain ended quickly. Our teenage children haven't been to many nice restaurants and they loved the creative appetizers, especially the homemade croutons on the ceasar salad, delicious! We all had very good meals and were too full for dessert which is unfortunate because I have had the chocolate bread pudding with Baileys before and it is divine! There are so many tasty options and we enjoyed the scallops as well as the duck, key lime chicken and the flank. You can't go wrong!
