Most bizarre Valentine's day dinner ever. Best case scenario these guys tonight had a large part of their staff call in sick.... Otherwise I honestly have no clue how this place is managed.... Enjoy the details below and consider before deciding to dine here.... The shrimp in my scampi was good .... Outside of that the whole experience was just bizarre.... We waited in line for a long time though we had a reservation. That wouldn't be bizarre as it was v-dwy except THERE WAS NO HOST/HOSTESS! so everyone standing in line had no clue what was going on and it was out the door. Finally this poor woman RAN up to the counter to get a couple and I tried in the 5 seconds she was there to figure out what was going on ... She quickly RAN off with the couple. We (the crowd in line who were trying to figure out what was going on) then noticed ... she was BUSSING all the tables.... RUNNING (I'm saying running because she did all these jobs running around). Have you been to a restaurant where the host is bussing the tables? And the wait staff were moving basically a snail's pace. And NONE OF THEM were helping to bus tables .. like ... Not even when they went back to the kitchen .... Bizarre right? We luckily got a seat quickly bc I asked about our reservation which put us on the list. Others in line weren't getting on the list so literally waited a very long time ... So many other fun stories but for example when we sat at out table.... Look how terrible these mushrooms looked? And who eats all that garlic? Then the neighboring table the couple dropped their glass.... This broken glass probably sat there for about 20 minutes before anyone did anything We couldnt tell if there was a manager on site bc it sure didn't seem like anyone was doing anything to help with things.... I asked if the hostess was but they told me she wasn't. She worked about 4 times harder than any other employee so good star for her I will never be back to this restaurant and perhaps never to a Mac grill again. Reading other reviews (search by recent) you can see a lot of 1 and 2 star reviews. Clearly this store needs major major work. Too bad. It's in Ann arbor..... It should be well run.
Wow... the place is dead when I come in at 12:45 in the afternoon. It takes an act of God to have a server or hostess come up to seat me... and then she gives me attitude and unfriendly behavior. I turned and walked out after the host/server treated me like I was invisible. So sad that a great franchise like this has this bad of service. I have seen other reviews that this is a normal level of service at this restaurant... obviously never addressed and I will never be back.
Steak turned out to be more raw than wanted. Wasn't able to get addressed as staff chatted with each other more than wanting to help customers. Waitress had to be asked for more water repeatedly. As she was bringing the check, I had just taken a piece off the plate of bread and set it down to take the check from her and she took it all away! Immediately started clearing table and we weren't ready to be done. Thought it would have been better for the price paid.
Food was fine, but oh, the conditions. First, ALL tables have at least 4 drinking glasses on the table, all in the filthy condition of the one pictured (look closely at the photo). I checked went from empty table to empty table inspecting them. When I mentioned them to the waitress, she said, Oh, we don 't serve in those glasses. What? So why would a restaurant cover their tables with filthy drinking glassed the weren 't going to use. That 's mental. When I walked in and walked to the podium, the host, Kevin, walked up and stared at me. No greeting, no welcome, not even a hello. Finally after a 15 second stare down, I said, Well? Then he asked how many. Manager: Kevin needs a new job at the restaurant, one spent over a ...sink full of dirty dishes in the kitchen, where there is absolutely no chance that he will have contact with the public. Kevin, Key suggestion for future career: Government work. There were 4 tables of diners in the entire restaurant when I arrived, all jammed into one corner together. Then halfway through my meal, Kevin decided to seat a couple with a newborn baby right next to me. They clearly should have been seated in a far corner, away from everyone. Multiple wait staff were on duty. It 's no wonder this chain of restaurants is going out of business. Manager, I 'd start looking for another line of work if I were you. Maybe something in government work.... with Kevin. I won 't be back.
