Bidrage med feedbackVery carefully planned. Our tour guide Davis was super knowledgeable and gave a great program. The audio driving tour was very cool. We did the prison audio tour and loved it. Calm and infirmative. We were iffy about the cemetery audio tour but we put it on while we went to find our state monument and ended up finishing the tour we loved it so much. The cemetery was very moving.
If you are in the area, this is a must visit. Lots of history. They have a Prisoner of War Museum located inside the Visitor Center. They have a driving or walking tour in and around where the Prisoner Stockade was located. They do a great job describing what each stopped along the route was and what prison life was like for the POW's. There is a National Cemetery here as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

This is not just a prison, but a National POW museum and cemetery. It’s very rainy day so we didn’t tour the grounds but could tell they are well kept and maintained. Beautiful area even in the rain. If we are in the area again we plan to do the driving tour. The museum had wonderful exhibits with detailed information. We watched a 27 minute movie which was very compelling. Including the movie it took us 1 1/2 to walk through. There was a lot to read and many artifacts. So much history that should not be forgotten. We ended our tour in the small gift shop.
My wife and I stopped in at Andersonville today just to look at monuments and gravestones there. We ended up walking over to Providence Spring and got plenty of pictures. We love this place and visit regularly.
