Another plus is the pricing. The Sauerbraten with sides costs just $14—a great deal, especially considering that many restaurants in Anchorage charge between $20 and $30 or more for main dishes. Additionally, the beer selection is excellent. They offer a variety of German beers on tap, including grapefruit beer, all at reasonable prices and available in different sizes. Sample tastings are generously offered, allowing you to try several options. While the restaurant's location in Mountain View might deter some, I've never encountered any issues there. As for the service, it can be inconsistent, but the beer usually arrives quickly, which definitely helps ease any impatience. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you're looking for something different in Anchorage.
The food is excellent, and the service is top-notch. You definitely won't regret dining here. The authenticity of the cuisine is impressive, and the prices are reasonable for the generous portions they serve.
I've only visited this restaurant once, but it was so impressive that I'll definitely be returning. A few colleagues and I decided to have lunch there, and all three of us thoroughly enjoyed the food. The special of the day was rouladen, which can be tricky to prepare well, but this place absolutely nailed it. The beef was tender, and the gravy had just the right touch of sourness from the pickles. The schnitzel that my colleagues ordered was equally delightful—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a subtle hint of lemon in the sauce. As for the side dishes, we all had spaetzle and braised red cabbage. Both were delicious, although I can be a bit particular since I make those dishes at home frequently and prefer my own recipes. The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because of its location. It’s situated on the far edge of town in what is arguably the least desirable neighborhood. That’s why we'll likely go there for lunch but not for dinner; it’s not a place I’d want to be after dark.
First time tonight. Really solid German fare, definitely authentic, had schnitzel; delish! Great selection of classic German beers with some of them on tap. Interiors need some work. Service was good but it was a quiet Sunday evening. Definitely going back to try out other menu offerings.
