Bidrage med feedbackI ordered two meals so that I could have something to eat for the next day. Not only was the food not worth half of what I paid for it but there was hair in the oxtails. I immediately loss my appetite and threw it all away. The first and last time for me.....
I was in Anchorage for business and decided to check this place out. I live in Seattle, but I'm originally from Mississippi, so I wanted a nice meal that reminded me of home and Roscoe's did not disappoint! I had the Catfish, Mac and Cheese and Collard Greens. Yummy! I cleaned my plate! Dwayne was awesome! I believe he is really from Mississippi and not Alaska...lol Great hospitality and excellent Southern Cuisine. Will definitely be back when I return to Anchorage!
Being from the South I jumped at the chance to order some good ole fashioned catfish and sides. Just finished my lunch and man am I regretting it. The catfish, ordered filet and got strips, was unseasoned, the okra was swimming in oil, I didn't get my cornbread, and the peach cobbler made me want to never eat it again. It was stone cold and left a bitter, acrid taste in my mouth. The one shining light was the mac and cheese. It was super cheesy and seasoned well. For $23 I expected a lot more. Maybe it was an off day or someone new. Probably won't be going back.
You wouldn’t really think this place is a gem from the outside- but you’d be mistaken! Go here to experience some of what Anchorage really is when all the tourists aren’t overwhelming the City!
Being from Georgia, my husband and I consider ourselves connoisseurs of Soul Food and great BBQ! We found this location through Yelp and did not have high expectations for a restaurant with BBQ, Soul Food, Seafood and Gyros! However, the BBQ was pretty good. We tried the ribs, pulled pork, baked beans, Collard greens, Mac n Cheese, potato salad and corn bread. Overall, the food was seasoned well and had a pretty good taste. The restaurant had a smaller, pretty cool, historic feel location. We met the owner, Roscoe, prior to him leaving and he was very friendly and warm. Cons: The sides were obviously warmed up (you could literally hear the microwave); our Mac n Cheese and cornbread was cold. The meat was served with drenched in sauce (typically BBQ restaurants will ask you if you want sauce or serve it on the side). Plus, the sauce was spicy, therefore, an even more reason not to drench in sauce. The sweet tea was watery and tasted more like brown water.
