Namaste Shangri-la - Anchorage

I ordered three main entrees, and it took them an hour to prepare. All the dishes had the same tomato gravy, which was disappointing. The menu stated that the entrees would come with rice, but we were only given one bowl to share. When I inquired, they informed me that it was their policy to provide only one bowl of rice per table. Seriously? We ordered three different dishes! I could have prepared a far better meal in just an hour. This experience was very disappointing. This is easily the worst Indian restaurant I've ever been to. If I could give it zero stars, I would.

This restaurant is a charming little find. The food was absolutely delicious, and the ambiance was fantastic. The staff were incredibly attentive, always checking in to ensure we were satisfied, and you could really feel their passion in every dish they prepared. For those looking for meat-free choices, there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options available.

We love Indian food, ordered appetizers, garlic naan, both were good. The wait for our entrees were over 30 minutes. Both doses were too salty for our taste. The lamb was tough . The rice was undercooked. Disappointed, we only ate half of the okra dish, the sauce was good but salty, we left most of the lamb untouched. The owner/waiter didn’t even asked how we liked the food, he could see that there were lots left. I think they got good business and didn’t care.

Best food in town. My meat and potatoes junk food loving friends even think it's fabulous. So good I even had them cater my wedding a decade ago. Glad to see the word has gotten out more since!

We ordered two vegetarian Thalis and some breads. Excellent food, I could not not imagine having such delicious home style food in Alaska! Highly impressed.
