Novotel Amboise

This restaurant is disgraceful, just like the menu and the poor choices they give us, we are supposed to be in the restaurant of a 4 star hotel! It's disgusting, inedible, there's a crossroads down the street, buy a dish there you'll be less disappointed and you'll get more for your money, if at least the waitresses were pleasant or attentive but not at all they ignore you, take your order badly, make bad jokes, waitresses who don't like human contact and who should be at the counter of McDonalds not in the restaurant of a 4 star hotel, I'm really pissed off that I had to spend money eating this ****, money thrown out the window since I couldn't even finish my dish, which I think, can only be eaten by dogs. Everything is definitely frozen and reheated in a hurry! To be avoided!

The restaurant, unfortunately following a universal Novotel menu as it was the same at our former hotel at Novotel Chateau Maffliers the previous night, was well balanced with a 'special of the day ' and was set in a very large and north-facing modern glass conservatory. Very impressive! Likewise also impressive was the waiter, Andre. He was extremely hard working, efficient and skilled, moving easily throughout the tables with professional ease. His welcome was warm and generous and brought great personal presence to his work and professional attitude. In the same way, Letitia brought pure excellence to the breakfast which was in the same conservatory. Nothing was a problem, and she equally brought smiling personal excellence to make our day start well. Thank you to both of them. Novotel these are two very special and talented employees, I hope you recognise that. So that was the good stuff and I have one real negative, THE BREAKFAST PLATES WERE UNHEATED AND COLD! This is bad, and more than that, VERY BAD in my book. I expect warmed plates as a norm. I guess I could have asked the staff to supply me with a hot plate but they were extremely busy so I heated my plate above the boiled egg cooker. You can not eat scrambled egg, bacon and sausage from a cold plate, it is just so not thought through, low class and plain wrong. The breakfast was otherwise very good but you let yourself down here, and it is something you can easily put right. Still, the breakfast buffet was certainly good enough and varied enough for our taste. Powdered egg? So what?

Had dinner at the restaurant, and the restaurant provided us with vegetarian options that included rice and vegetables. For dessert, we had tiramisu and that was super good.

Well placed restaurant with very beautiful view of the castle. pleasant and listening staff. the map is interesting as well as the wine map. traditional cuisine revisited with some original dishes. I enjoyed the finesse of pork cheeks, but the fries were hot. Very nice dessert card.

Service is fast and convenient. the dishes are of good quality, served with a pleasant but a little short accompaniment. the wine card turns out to be congruous.
