Turandot - Almaty

Real Chinese tasting we had in almaty so far, and we have eaten at different places. all were between okay and good, but this really tasted like I was back in China. my only complaint was the cauliflower too salty. once again, my experience with eating here is often that it was either completely bland or much too salty, but it was the only dish that was too salty; everything else was brilliant. the aubergine with bark was heavenly, I would be back tomorrow. the spicy cattle baos were actually spicy. If you don't like to eat spicy, stay away from them. we loved her! we were on a nine-month search to find a Chinese restaurant with real spicy food. finally! I'm not stopping here. there are many Chinese restaurants that try in the city.

Went there during lunch hours, and they offered their business lunch menus. Though the lunch was supposed to be prepared in advance, when we ordered nothing was available, we had to spend 40 minutes just waiting for food, and the restaurant wasn't crowded at all, there were few more groups of people. The food wasn't that good, it was just ok.

Slightly pricey, depending on what you eat, but the food and service is good.

First full day in Almaty, and BAM! My partner and I get the Giardia parasite. I, worse than him. Our only common dish was the seafood noodle dish, with clams, cuttlefish, and other imported delacacies. My guess for the bad water is on the cuttlefish, which were warm, but popped in your mouth when you bit them. I must wonder if they just didn't cook thoroughly enough, given the more delicate other seafood Items that were present in this dish. It has taken me six days to finally have a stomache that feels normal, after taking an agressive round of thrice-daily metronidazole tablets. Sorry but I will probably not return.
