Blue Asia - Allston

I've eaten a lot of Taiwanese food in my life. The flavors here are authentic and the portions are generous. I saw on their website that they offer delivery through Ricepo. The app was offering a combo deal: for $22 you can choose one of 3 appetizers, one of 4 rice plates, and one drink from a small selection (hot or cold classic boba milk tea, oolong boba milk tea, jasmine teas, soymilk). We got two combos which included the egg pancake with dried pork, stewed combo (egg, bean curd, seaweed), fried pork tenderloin over rice, salt and pepper chicken over rice, classic boba milk tea, and soymilk. The egg pancake with dried pork was SO GOOD. It tasted just like the egg pancakes I'd get at small breakfast eateries in Taipei. The pancake came with a garlicky sauce and a slightly sweet soy based sauce. The stewed combo was solid, too. I love when stewed eggs are stewed to the point where the spices penetrate through both the egg white and egg yolk these stewed eggs were perfect. The bean curd and seaweed were very fragrant too, although the seaweed was a bit too soft for me. Because of delivery we couldn't eat the fried entrees right away so the fried pork and fried chicken were already kind of soft by the time we tried them. I wasn't the biggest fan of the pork or chicken. Both had enough salt but could use more white pepper. You can get stewed pork meat sauce for free with the entrees and I regret not getting it. The entrees came with sweet corn and cabbage on the side, and without the pork meat sauce, the sides were kind of plain and boring. There was also a fried egg over medium which was tasty. The drinks were... oof. At first I was disappointed that they gave so few pearls in the drink. After tasting the pearls, I was grateful that they did not give more. The pearls were so mushy that they crumbled when I bit into them. The milk tea was alright I felt that the tea flavor could have been stronger. I wish the soy flavor was stronger in the soymilk. Because the soymilk was sweetened, it mostly tasted like sweetened water. The portions were so big that we ended up splitting all of the food into 4 meals total. I have such mixed feelings about this place! I loved the appetizers but everything else was just okay. Maybe I would have liked the entrees better if I got the pork meat sauce with the rice? In terms of authenticity, Blue Asia Cafe definitely tastes more authentic to me than Dolphin Bay across the street. I'll try this place again soon... stay tuned for an update.

Fried pork with curry and chicken soup are so good. Great service!

Today I go to this restaurant where I go to few times. There is a worm in the dishes I eat. I am very upset. But since we are all from China, I choose to forgive and not to call the department or lawyer. Hope they will care about the quality of dishes! Don’t make this big mistake again.
