Located on the banks of the famous salmon fishing River Derwent in wild West Cumbria, the Trout Hotel is one of the most iconic establishments in the north. The luxury and elegance of the decor, furnishings, manicured gardens, and attentive staff create a perfect setting for a romantic rendezvous. Enjoy a pint of Jennings' finest Cockermouth beer, made from the pure mountain streams and dew of Cumberland, as you tempt your loved one with a shandy. Take a stroll along the riverbank to watch the salmon and sea trout jumping, or search for fresh water pearl oysters in the shallows of the Derwent. The Trout Hotel's menu features dishes made from the river's bounty, such as scallops, plaice, lobster, and brown shrimps. With its close proximity to the Irish Sea, the river is a vital source of nutrients for these delicacies. William Wordsworth, who lived nearby for much of his youth, would surely appreciate the beauty and tranquility of the Trout Hotel. Spend a few days in Cockermouth to rejuvenate your creative senses before indulging in a delightful stay at this charming hotel.
I have not visited this restaurant, but I observed their tea towels being hung out from the nearby National Trust establishment. The towels did not appear to be clean.
