The Old Smithy Tea Room - Allerdale

This restaurant is a hidden gem. They serve amazing coffee and delicious homemade cakes. We tried the carrot cake and Gingerbread, both were excellent. Definitely worth a visit!

Had our monthly ice cream fix from the Old Smithy Tea Rooms. The homemade ice cream is as always fantastic....so good we travel from Seascale 40 miles away for it. An added bonus was home made mince pies. We bought two to take out. They were absolutely delicious. Really love this place. An absolute gem in a wonderful village.

The title of this review is based on our experience at the tea room. While the menu options are limited, the value is exceptional and they offer delicious ice cream. We had heard about the notable burials in the local churchyard, but were surprised by the high prices at the gift shops. The items at the Wool shop and Craft shop were particularly overpriced, with some items costing as much as £20. Despite this, we decided to focus on enjoying the picturesque village of Caldbeck, especially reminiscing about our affordable and delightful tea experience at The Old Smithy Tea Room. Perhaps other shops in the village could learn from their reasonable pricing.

Staying in Caldbeck this week and called in here for breakfast today after our morning doggie walk. We received a very warm welcome and the Full English Breakfast we both had was excellent. Will definitely be back !!
