Bidrage med feedbackWe had a lunchtime beer in this restaurant and thought it would be nice to have an evening meal later on. We reserved a table expressing our requirement for vegan and gluten free which they acknowledged.and arrived ten minutes earl for dinner, and that is probably where the awful experience started. The waiter/ owner was setting up tables and, even though we were paying customers, we were definitely in his way. Getting served was going to be a challenge, given that he had other priorities, even though we were the first customers of the night. In all my years and all my travels around the world I have never come across a more ignorant, rude and disrespectful human being, and I use that term loosely. I am English but speak Spanish but I couldn’t really initiate a conversation or even a few pleasantries. We ordered food that would suit a vegan and gluten free diet for my wife and a regular diet for myself. So when the vegan suitable house salad arrived covered in boiled eggs I pointed out the error which apparently was down to our request and not his ability to remove animal products from a dish. My prawns in garlic then appeared. I have had this dish in many Spanish restaurants and this was the first time that I had been presented with whole prawns in scalding hot oil with a side order of garlic infused greasy bread. I’m not sure of the culinary protocol when trying to eat prawns in this manner but carrying out a level of surgery on a dish of prawns under hot oil is not what I would call a culinary experience. A vegan/ vegetable rice dish appeared that I might consider using for lubricating an engineering project due to the vast amount of grease in the dish. In essence, customer service was non existent and food qualty was poor, other customers also did not seem happy and the grumpy waiter carried on having a sad evening serving less than optimum food. Please don’t go there. Save yourself some energy climbing the stairs. They don’t even provide a hand drying facility. I wanted to use many profanities whilst writing this review but despite my annoyance I’m also a gentleman who will never darken the doors of this apology of a food establishment. I refrain from using the word restaurant as it does not deserve the title. As an aside I have never seen so many members of staff disappear and reappear with produce retrieved from neighbourhood locations. I assume that planning and food preparation are a complete afterthought. If only zero stars was an option
We stopped on our way back from the castle, like many others. It seems we arrived as shifts were changing. Tables around us also waited for service or the bill. We were not in a rush so the wait didn't bother us. We ordered 2 small beers and 4 croquettes. The croquettes arrived after 15 mins, they were very tastie and clearly homemade. The beers didn't arrive so we asked the new waitress for some. At bill time they tried to charge for 4 and the waitress got very angry when I advised only two arrived, shouting that I had ordered with the gent and with the waitress so we must have received them.
We stumbled across this place when descending from the castle, our crampons dangling by our sides and oxygen masks swinging limply from our chins. The dramatic, yellowish haze covering the steps revealed this little gem. It’s a kind of locals place with family stumbling up to cries of ‘guapaaaa!’, regardless of guapa-ishness. Super friendly, family oriented place and the tapas were really quite marvellous. But the theatrical drama of the ambience was even better.
