King Hua - Alhambra

I would give this place a 5-star rating because the food is exceptional and incredibly delicious. I would definitely return. The prices are average—not too cheap, but not overly expensive either. The dim sum is a bit pricey, but it still tastes great.

Service, service, service – that’s what I look for and expect in a restaurant. During my visit, there were only two tables occupied, yet I still had to ask for water. I didn’t receive the fried rice that was supposed to come with my meal, and for a restaurant that claims to be upscale, bringing soy sauce in a cup with a plastic spoon is quite disappointing! There were two staff members standing by my table, doing nothing but watching me eat; they didn’t change my plates or offer to refill my tea. The only highlight was the fried lake bass, but it wasn’t enough to redeem the experience. Overall, it was not worth the price, and I won’t be returning.

We started with fried shrimp balls with egg yolk as an appetizer. They were quite tasty, though I felt they could have used a dipping sauce. Next, I had the seafood dish with oxtail served in a pumpkin, and it was absolutely delicious. The oxtail was cooked perfectly. The waiter cut off the top of the pumpkin so you could enjoy the meat with the sweet flesh of the pumpkin. You could even scrape some of the pumpkin’s insides to mix with the sauce and the meat—simply delightful. For dessert, we tried red bean and mango pudding. I found them a bit too artificial and not very sweet, but that might just be a matter of personal taste or cultural differences. I may need to try dessert from another place to compare. Maybe next time, I’ll focus on trying the dumplings!

I regularly dine with King Hua. The Shi-mai is really delicious. They ran out of Chinese broccoli today, so we had green beans with garlic. The best substitution ever. The garlic is crispy and crispy when roasted. All right. Prices have risen over the years, but the quality is really worth the extra dollar.

There are lots of dim sum places in SGV but this one definitely stand out in terms of ease to park. The food is above average and price is higher as well which reflects the quality of the food.
