Very original restaurant in what was probably originally a semi-detached house. small rooms with a table per room. unusual courtyard for the apes in the back! French mixed cuisine and a little Spanish. excellent food. friendly staff. We'll be back.
El retiro is located in the district of la madeleine à albi, along the road of ropes on sky, on the left. we discover the place for the first time, for a birthday dinner, on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at two, with a reservation made previously. the interior space is minimalist, only a few tables, decoration charged though harmonious, the room is closed, without really visibility on the outside, some pretty paintings hanging on the wall, of which the artist is also the one who is at the command of the kitchen. at the moment, nothing engaging. The essentials are not here. The strengths are what you have in the plate, as well as the service. the menu at 18 € (entrance, flat and desert, with a small bottle of water included) will offer you a fresh entrance (melon at the porto), a main dish succulent, perfectly cooked and seasoned ( Duck needles) as well as a desert that allowed me to reconcile with the chocolate marrow. My partner chose on the map, duck foie gras (fresh and well spicy), carbonara pasta, chorizo, cream and egg (very rich, completely mastered) and a tatin pie with a chocolate ice ball, perfect accompanied by fresh fruit. these three dishes are charged 40 €. Our plates go empty, a real delight! We accompanied our dishes with a glass of wine (4 €), red, and white, from the Lacroux estate (gaillac.) beautiful discovery. the second point of the restaurant is the service. serge is attentive and thoughtful, professional and without excess, he masters his part and seems to have fun in this activity, and it is appreciable! the result is that we spend a very good time, having the desire to test other Spanish specialties of the chef christian millet, and why not enjoy the minimalist and confidential terrace, located at the back of the restaurant. Nice discovery!
Small restaurant with a nice warm welcome. the menu of the chef is very well, tasteful gazpacho, very good gambas ! and dessert as much. in addition the flat or gaseous water in bottle is included in the menu. We appreciate the finger rinse to the natural much more pleasant than it is chemical products in linen and homemade bread. nothing to say about the quality of the meal and the service. it is extremely pleasant and tries to satisfy its customers best! Too bad this place is not known, and not necessarily visible when you don't know the neighborhood. otherwise nice
Excellent value for money for this restaurant with a very nice atmosphere where everything is homemade, including bread. very pleasant reception, personal decor, an address that is worth the detour (a small detour) for tourists who do not necessarily want to stay on the Place Sainte-Cécile. And we eat very well. Yes, you will.
