Ice Garden - Aiea

Ice Garden remains my favorite spot for shave ice on the island. I've been a loyal customer for over 15 years. Originally, it was run by two sisters, but now their nephew manages the place. The prices have increased quite a bit, but I still stick to my favorites: either the #5 shave ice with taro milk and mochi balls, or the #6 shave ice with taro milk and ice cream, always topped off with flan. Keep in mind, Ice Garden only accepts cash. The weekend lines can get outrageous, so it's best to visit on a weekday.

I really enjoy their shave ice! They offer a wide variety of options and flavors. The prices are reasonable, but the only downside is the wait time. I visited on a Sunday, and the line was quite long; it seemed like they only had two employees working. However, it was definitely worth the wait!

The Halo Halo was excellent. The staff was very friendly. I will definitely try it again when I'm in the area.

I really appreciate the variety of topping options they offer, which go beyond just sugary syrups, such as oatmeal, taro, and custard. I'm so glad they made it through the pandemic, as they were a beloved spot of mine ten years ago. While they've raised their prices quite a bit, I believe the value remains excellent. During our visit in August 2023, they stayed open until closing time, which is a nice change since they used to close early. I also like that they are now using biodegradable dishes.

On our way to Pearl Harbor, we spontaneously searched for shaved ice nearby and discovered this place through its reviews. We're so glad we decided to stop here! We ordered the lychee and strawberry shaved ice, and it was fantastic. Just a heads up, this place only accepts cash, but it's definitely worth it!
