Bidrage med feedbackI've gone to this place twice, once for a takeaway coffee - worst coffee I've ever had (bitter, weak & cold) & came with **** service - like we were a pain for being there. Thought it might have been a one off, went back Saturday morning for breakfast - the worst coffee again & dry, overcooked eggs with bits of avocado skin through my side of avocado & also came with terrible customer service again. When I posted a review on Facebook it came with a rude & insulting response, they couldn't have cared less. Don't waste you're time or money here.
Don't often post reviews, but this place is just so good I feel the need to share! Great eclectic menu of small plates (gnocchi, duck, pork belly). Great wine list. Great service. If you haven't tried it yet, get here!
Delicious food and wine! We had the Beetroot gnocchi with burnt thyme butter and it was delicious although the texture was a bit unusual... The pork belly was amazing and it had big bits of chilli and ginger topping it which were perfect. The pizzas were excellent and the base especially was so fluffy and well cooked ???????? The service was a little slow and we waited about half an hour to order dessert but they never came so unfortunately we didn't quite get there! Overall really good though.
I only write reviews for excellent restaurants and this is a new favourite for good reason. The menu is eclectic and every meal is made with passion. After serveral visits I can confirm they are consistently impressive and my friends, some of whom are very picky, still love coming here. They also have an impressive wine and beer selelction. My favourites are their pumpkin and beetroot based pizzas, triple cooked pork belly, confit mushrooms, crispy skin duck breast, creme brulee and ricotta con cioccolato deserts. My mouth is watering just thinking about them. Unfortunately every time I try something new it becomes a new favourite. Highly recommended and especially for fussy vegetarians too. I can go out with my wife again!
In regards to a previous review of east of norman from Claire; Our breakfast menu at east of norman is of a reasonable size considering we are not aiming to be known as a breakfast bar. Our breakfast menu was collaborated by myself and my co-chef after cooking, sampling and plating our offerings. One thing to note is your use of wording whilst giving a negative review. You stated that you had to add or deduct ingredients to have a decent avocado breakfast. Well, I deduce that this comment comes from another chef with a considerably refined palate. A palate which literally, hundreds of clients who have eaten the smashed avocado and who have absolutely loved it, would disagree with. I am at a loss as to what element about this dish you don't like other than something you, in your personal opinion dislike... Was it the coriander, spring onion, chilli, lime, salt and pepper, or the avocado? Perhaps it was the rye bread you didn't like? In future, I would hope that your reviews are based upon poor performance rather than the use of ingredients you dislike. Kind regards, Alan hickey. Head chef @eastofnorman
