Mayfield Cafe - Abbotsford

The food is ok but the the pricing for coffee and food is over priced but hey that's what you get in the area. Don't leave your car unlocked and watch out for the drug dealers in the side streets. Once in side the cafe ok. The service is good and friendly . Only downfall is the price and small coffee

Lovely industrial chic setting in trendy Abbotsford with outdoor and indoor seating. Menu is small and leans more to breakfast with plenty of egg dishes and only a few lunch meals. My baked eggs and beans tasted good but the eggs were overcooked and rubbery. My husband had chilli scrambled eggs and they were delicious. We seemed to have a long wait and my meal was piping hot and my husband's chilli eggs less so. Coffee and smoothie of the day were good. I didn't see any cakes or sweet selection but I assume they were there. As were are fairly local I will be keen to return for the good coffee and the lovely setting.

In fairness, coffee was good, however after waiting 30 minutes for chilli eggs on a quiet morning, I had to leave the food untouched, bar the first mouthful, as food was unpalatable.When I went to pay, staff didn't ask how the meal was, but I was still in the cafe when the waiter cleared my untouched plate. Even after seeing I had left my meal, no one asked if there was a problem.

I’m on a personal crusade to find the best BLT in the world and was advised to try the Mayfield Café’s version. It probably isn’t fair to rate it as a BLT as it was really a BLAT and served as an open sandwich with a Turkish bread base. It also had guacamole smeared on the base which gave it a non-standard tang. Nevertheless the dish was delicious with generous servings of bacon and avocado and the tang (although non-standard) added to the overall enjoyment. Can’t really be added to the list of the best BLT’s in the world but it was excellent. The furnishings, ambience and service were in line with the current fashion of being a bit knocked around and rough and ready.

This charming café is fantastic. The food overall was delicious, although the fried chicken was a bit dry. The coffee was excellent. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and will definitely return.
