Bidrage med feedbackI visited this restaurant for the first time in three years. After passing through the tunnel, make a right immediately. If you're speeding through the tunnel, you might miss it. The weather was nice, and I could feel the autumn chill in the air. The website mentions that they only sell set meals now, even though they used to sell individual soba noodles. Since I had come all this way, I also ordered sesame tofu and sweet-simmered herring. I arrived just before noon and was able to enter without waiting, but by 12 o'clock, customers started pouring in and the restaurant was soon full. The set meal consisted of an appetizer platter, two servings of soba noodles (thin and thick), and bracken rice cakes. While the price was not cheap, I thought the contents were quite enjoyable. The appetizers all had a nostalgic flavor, with the stewed eggplant being particularly delicious. The sesame tofu stood out with its fragrant sesame and tasty sauce. The sweet-simmered herring had a lighter flavor than I had imagined. As for the soba noodles, they were fragrant, with the thin noodles sliding down easily and the thick noodles providing a satisfying chew. The bracken rice cake dessert increased my post-meal satisfaction. It seems that they are open from April to November, so if you're interested, please visit soon.
There is a restaurant near the summit of Sarubane Mountain, located to the left before entering the tunnel on the Shonai side of the Sarubane Mountain Tunnel. You can drive up the road that extends to the left and find a parking lot, from which you can walk to the top and find the restaurant!! The weather was nice on the day we visited, with a beautiful view and lovely autumn leaves! Next to the soba restaurant, there is a temple where we offered prayers before going to the soba restaurant!! We made a reservation for the soba set over the phone before going, which was fortunate as the soba for the day was sold out! When we entered the restaurant, we were served appetizers first, including sesame tofu in sauce and tea, before being served thin soba noodles!! By the time we finished eating, thick buckwheat noodles also came out! Just when we were finishing, soba broth was brought to us... Finally, we were served warabi mochi for dessert. The appetizers, soba noodles, and warabi mochi were all delicious!! After we finished eating, we returned to the temple area, offered prayers at various sites like the Jizo-do, and finally received a stamp from the head priest! While he was writing the stamp, we talked about this year's snowfall and he mentioned that Sarubane Mountain Soba will close on November 23rd, in the year 3 of Reiwa! Due to the heavy snowfall in the area, we thought about visiting again next year.
