Uncle Joe's Family Restaurant - York

So we arrived and said there was a 20-minute waiting time for a table. No big deal, this is expected if you have no reservation. We spent the time looking at a menu so we can order immediately as soon as we... went to our table. We get our table and order our food and here everything begins to go wrong. At least 45 minutes later a single French onion soup is delivered. Half an hour later our entrees arrive, but the appetizers have not yet? When we asked a waitress, we were told they were out of the kitchen soon. Who wants appetizers after their duck? We canceled the appetizers at this point. 10 minutes after the first two ducks the last two came out. My lamb was warm, not hot, and even had a cold spot. My guess would be that this was cooked earlier a day and was not thoroughly reheated. My wife Burger was fine. Tables nearby that sit after we get appetizers at least half an hour before us. I really wanted to like this place because they are nearby with a variety of menu options, but unfortunately we will not go back. The only items here were that some of the employees tried (too few), and the prices are very good. I'm not sure how they might get so many positive reviews... I'm not going to get this place back or leave my time back. I'd rather give my business where it's estimated.

We are local residents and have been wanting to try this restaurant for a few years now. Today, we tried the pepper corn steak, onion soup, and shrimp stir fry, and they were all really good and reasonably priced. We will definitely be returning soon. Highly recommended.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good this family restaurant is. They offer a unique Chinese/Canadian fusion menu that has something for everyone. My personal favorite dishes are the steak and eggs and the omelettes.

I attended a birthday dinner at the restaurant. We were seated in the dining room, which had lovely decorations. The host ordered the famous lamb chops for our group, which were excellently cooked. The lamb was tender and flavorful. The restaurant provided excellent service for our dinner party as a family-friendly establishment.

This is in the former Wilson's shoe store (no relation) from the 60's. narrow little restaurant with the kitchen right at the front door. Several booths at the front door tables in the back. Owned by Chinese but only Chinese food is several stir...frys. Very good food. Best liver onions I've ever had. Not sure if it is the light breading or the gravy.
