Tamales are the best taste I have eaten at the Rosenfestmesse and told them a perfect homemade Tamane! Good work
Thanks to reliable Rob.......... to devote this great Mexican place to my attention. SWMBO and I made the trip to Woodburn to make Lupita's attempt. It's right on front street a few doors down by Luis's Taqueria, recently made immortal by a visit to the current and hopefully temporary inmates of the White House. Its south wall has a variety of comfortable horseshoe cabins facing an open dining area with freestanding tables and chairs. It looked like an order-at-the-counter place, but our server stated that menus were already placed on the table where I had parked my hat. The young lady brought a basket of homemade chips and a bowl of thin but delicious salsa. Carol ordered a three taco combo plate. She mixed everyone with Tripe, Lengua and Cabeza Meats. It came with refried beans and rice interspersed with carrots and chopped chiles. She washed everything with a Corona Mexican Beer. I had her Mole Verde; a whole Chicken Hind Quarter served in a zesty Green Mole with beans and rice. $8.50 I wanted and got some hot Four Tortillas I was pretty sure hecho a mano. I had my usual drink, a flagon of good local dihydrogen monooxide in liquid and solid form. We thought it was a good two people, $15 lunch. Pre Beer $3} and tip $4} We recommend it and will be back.
Good food, but... not the cleanest place. Very in line with the Taqerias I enjoyed in the center of Mexico. Not dangerous are just different standards used as most of us gringos. The food is GREAT, recommend the daily chichirons and carnitas!
Had dinner here for 3 hours with my really good friend. Perfect size portions and absolutely fresh food. The ice cream was amazingly delicious.
