I am a huge fan of Nordstrom Cafe, and am a frequent visitor to the Cafes at the Natick, Braintree, and gone but not forgotten Providence Place locations, so I was delighted to see that they had one at the Westchester when we visited last week! I knew that we were in for a treat, especially since I have had such wonderful lunches at the other spots I've been to over the years. This Cafe was no exception! For those of you who have never had the pleasure of dining at a Nordstrom Cafe, you place your order and pay at the register before sitting down to dine, and then the food is brought out to you. They have an array of soups, sandwiches, salads, and a couple of entrees, plus a wine and beverage list. The cuisine is a bit on the pricier side (it was about $30 for my boyfriend and I with soup, an entree salad, and two soft drinks , but extremely worth it! I urged my boyfriend to try the signature Tomato Soup, which is a creamy and satisfying bowl of tomato goodness served with a couple of homemade cheese crostini. They even sell it by the jar on your way out, so if you can't get enough of it, you can make it at home. My mom got me one of those jars for Christmas one year! I opted for the Grilled Shrimp Salad, which is one of the best salads I've ever had. I mean, I'm still dreaming about it. Fresh arugula topped with plump grilled shrimp, crunchy polenta croutons, Parmesan cheese, and roasted corn and tomatoes all tossed in a creamy basil herb dressing. Heavenly. We got some locally made root beer and iced tea, which were refreshing additions to our lunch selections. The dining room is lovely, and offers a great view of the White Plains skyline. Take some discreet photos for social media, but beware of disapproving stares from society matrons at neighboring tables. Ah well, the burden of being a millennial, I guess! : Word to the wise: Tip is not included when you check out at the beginning of your meal, and your server gives you a receipt at the end of the meal to leave a tip on. I was a bit confused by this, and I wish they had told me when I was buying the food at the beginning that this is how it works. Oh well. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful time, and we'll be back again!
I've been shopping at this Nordstrom for years and have dined at their Cafe only a handful of times. That being said, the food has been consistently great every time I've been here. The food and wine selection are decent and I've always been satisfied with my pick every time. The specialty/gift offerings that they have up front by the cashiers are interesting, and I love that they sell some of the items that are featured in some of their dishes. I usually come here around brunch, so I cannot speak to their dinner menu offerings. I find it perfect to come around lunch time as it is usually peaceful and have my pick of seating.
Excellent food here, including the best salmon Caesar salad I've ever had! Very good experience for a department store restaurant.
I go every day and its usually a 5 star experience. Great coffee and treats!
