Bidrage med feedbackAs a group of 8 we enjoyed the set menu great food, wonderful flavours, generous serves. Staff were so friendly, attentive, efficient. Quirky, relaxed atmosphere. Great value for money. Would definitely return.
We had a fab easy light lunch of warm olives, Turkish bread and baked camembert. The staff were super friendly and although we were early and the first customers of the day we were made to feel very welcome. They opened up the little deck out the front for us and we sat there and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I'd certainly go back again.
The staff were friendly and attentive, the sautéed prawns were so good along with the other dishes we had. Delicious cocktails too. Great vibe and ambience. Would highly recommend a visit.
The other night was my first ever time dining here, and what an experience! My partner and I went for a nice mellow dinner at the secret, tucked-away, hideout that is Havana Bar, and were greeted by lovely staff, a cosy atmosphere, and a delicious collection of tapas! What I haven’t seen people comment on, however, is the pricing of the items. Sure the food was great, and unique (compared to many other spots in the Wellington area), but I was surprised to see that the prices were as high as they were. For what you’re given, it’s hard to say that the money spent is “worth it”. The portion sizes are small, which is fine, considering the idea is that you’re to share a few plates, hence the ‘tapas style’ they advertise throughout their site, and Instagram page – What they don’t advertise, is the idea that the restaurant is almost casual fine-dining in nature… A few roasted baby carrots on a plate with a side of a savoury yoghurt sauce costing $18 seems a bit ridiculous, wouldn’t you think? I don’t regret my choice of dining here, but having known the whole dinner between two people would cost upwards of $100, I might have rethought our dinner plans that evening. Overall, Havana Bar is the perfect little Latin-influenced cottage jammed between larger industrial buildings, giving it its own individual flare with a handful of carefully-crafted dishes ready to satisfy, but at quite the expense.
Great atmosphere and busy on a Thursday afternoon/evening: we arrived and didn't have a booking so they accommodated us at the bar. The bartender margarita was really great. We ordered the “All You Can Eat Tacos”. I would only do this if you are planning to be there a while. The tacos came out in 15 min intervals which was way too slow. We were both tired and had come before 6pm to get an early dinner. Also the meat was a bit sparse: in my fried pork one there was one piece of meat about 3cm long in the whole taco. to be honest if they had been a bit more generous in the meat portions then we would have been full a lot sooner. The meat tacos need a bit more meat in them! Also only received 1 small basket of Baja fries to share and no more in the hour and a bit that we were there. We both wished we had ordered from the menu now. But great option if you want a couple of hours to hang out, have a few drinks and have food turn up spaced out.
