Bidrage med feedbackMy best friend and I arrived a bit early for the afternoon tour, so we decided to have a late lunch here. We were greeted and seated promptly by our waiter. The restaurant seem very mellow, and slow. There were probably only 1-2 other tables being occupied. It seemed that the waiter served as the hostess, waiter, and bartender. We decided to start with the Vinum special cocktail, which included an Eldeflower liquor, with a pear and lychee liquor (I think). I believe he was missing a liquor so he topped the drinks with champagne, and pears. The drink was absolutely delicious. I'm still dreaming about it as I type this review. I decided to order the scallops with a tomato basil sauce, and my best friend got the salmon fillet. The scallops were perfectly cooked, the tomato basil sauce could have used a tad more salt, but the lemon rice served with it was fluffy and delicious. The salmon fillet was so fresh, and tender. Not overly cooked and hard at all. We were running out of time so we had to stuff out faces pretty quickly and run out of there, so we skipped dessert. The food and drinks were pretty great, and the prices were super cheap, so win-win for me. The next time I am back for more wine, will definitely stop in for lunch again. Happy eatings!
Well, the other reviewers were not exaggerating when they complained about the service. We just left after siting 30 minutes at the bar and being completely ignored by the staff. It was not because they were busy or short staffed because this was at 3:30pm and the restaurant was not very busy. They had 3 waitresses and an older gentlemen, CHP, who looked to be in charged. After 10 minutes of sitting at the bar, we had to ask for a menu. We were never asked what we wanted to drink, much less what we wanted for lunch. They did not seemed bothered by the fact that we started to get up to leave, despite CHP and the bartender being right in front of us. We are off to find another place.
I know this menu like the back of my hand they used to have Il de France in Goshen) however each time I order my favorites ... I get the same thrill as though it was the first time. Foie Gras, Truffle Chicken, Frog Legs, Steak Frites, Crab Cakes , Prime Rib, Lamb Chops, Scallops and the Creme Brûlée and Chocolate Mousse... I could go on and on...it 's all to die for at a reasonable price.
We planned our day trip to the winery and after reading all the negative reviews about the service I was afraid to eat at this place. I figured we'd just grab some pizza on the way back. So glad I changed my mind and decided to eat at Vinum. The service was perfect and the food was even better. French onion soup, foie gras, frog legs were amazing. And plenty of other options for less adventurous types (kobe beef burger, lamb chops, etc all good). We were a party of 5. Our lovely waitress was from France. And the chef came to chat with us. They could improve their beer selection, but hey, it's a winery, so I understand.
Unfortunately they have closed. 1839 Restaurant took over the space. Nothing more to say but it won't accept this information without writing more.
